Chris Crestani was the chief Radiation Therapist at St Vincents’ Hospital for 40 years. In 2005 Chris was diagnosed with cancer and passed away the following year. It was then as a tribute to Chris, that Yvonne Crestani opened the Crestani Family Foundation and used the Crestani Family Crest to honour his family.

Yvonne began organising the first of many Garden Parties at their home, designed to increase awareness of cancer and to raise funds for cancer research and further education of Radiation Therapists. This would ultimately advance techniques in cancer treatments and potentially save lives here on the Central Coast.

The Garden Parties became part of the Central Coast Social Calendar. Money raised began to significantly increase, all of which was directed to Education Scholarships for Health Workers and research into improving success rates for cancer patients. Due to the popularity of our Garden Parties the “Scholarships in Radiotherapy” Committee was formed with a small group of volunteers and as opportunities in medical techniques developed our scholarships grew to fund overseas education. As the number of our guests increased we were soon forced to find larger venues for our Annual Event. The 2013 Party coincided with the opening of the new Radiotherapy Department at Gosford Hospital, this led to a close alliance with the new Central Coast Cancer Centre and the Chief Radiation Therapist, Adam Chandler. Now all money raised stays on the Central Coast.

We hope to see you enjoying our popular “Scholarships in Radiotherapy Day”, this is usually held in April of each year. Your attendance will help the cause for Cancer Research and Education, an excellent day out is guaranteed. Our Annual Fund Raising Event features lunch, music, entertainment, silent auction and often a fashion parade.

We are grateful for donations and support already given to us by local businesses and the local community and as we grow we are looking for extra volunteers and or sponsors from businesses and the community to become part of this Scholarship Programme.

You may be interested to join us in a more active role helping us to provide funding for the above very worthy cause. There are many fulfilling roles where you could help us organise functions and Award Ceremonies.
